ONE, TWO, ONE, TWO: A Step By Step Guide To The SA Music Industry distilled all of my 20-odd years of experience in the South African music business into one place. I wrote it in a straightforward, easy-to-understand style and the book was an immediate hit with young and old musicians alike when it was launched in August 2010. It also found favour among upcoming promoters and managers, and pretty much anyone interested in more than just the music side of the industry.

Described by Gwen Ansell in Business Day as “Essential reading for your music student brother or sister who wants to be a star – and that aging rocking uncle who still hasn’t made it”, ONE, TWO, ONE, TWO has proven its value in the South African music marketplace.

When I decided to write the book I knew it would find an audience and that it would work, however I severely underestimated how MUCH of an audience it would have. During the 3 years I spent travelling the country with the book doing workshops, I realised that I could never hope to reach all those who could use the book and its information.

As a result I ave made the recently updated version with small corrections and additions, available as a free download. The book is in PDF format so that it can be read on as wide a range of platforms as possible.

It was a continuous source of frustration to me that, as an independent operator with limited print and distribution resources, I could not meet the demand for this book. After more than 3 years of trying I have come to the conclusion that this is the best way for the book to reach its market: organically and virally.

The objective of this free digital release is to simply allow the information in the book to travel as far as possible without being hindered by cost, physical proximity to a book store or being part of an organisation.

Why am I doing this? I am giving this book away subject to the condition that it MUST, by way of trade or otherwise, be lent, resold, hired out or otherwise circulated in any form. Please use it, copy it, quote it, pass it on, teach from it and spread its ideas as far as you can. All I ask is that you indicate me and the book as your source wherever you may spread it.”
