Grahamstown Bound

After being home for around ten days, I am preparing for a ten day trip to Grahamstown for the National Arts Festival. Here I will be based at the Graham Hotel with Home Grown Music doing morning workshops as well as MC-ing the lunch time singer song-writer showcase and possibly more. I will also be on RMR every afternoon at 15:30 every afternoon, talking about the workshops and shows.

This will be my first full-on festival experience at G Town. I played there once with Anti Gravity and took Scabby Annie down for a gig once. But both times we were in and out in 24 hours. I am looking forward to strolling around and soaking it all up. Even after living in PE for two years during high school, I just never made it up the road.

I was very disappointed to hear that Chris Letcher had cancelled his SA tour due to a broken hip, as being in G Town meant I would miss the Bassline show with Matthew van der Want but catch at least one in G Town. Get well Chris, next time! But there are plenty of other things worth catching as always and I am looking forward to it.

Of course everyone is warning me about the cold so I have my old London leather at the ready! I have also mapped out a couple of running routes on Runkeeper so I can pound some pavements while I am there.

In the ten days I have been back in JHB I have also been doing furious work around my key note presentation and am waiting to hear on several great bookings. I will be unveiling that to the world from July onwards so watch this space for details!

Today marks my first big writing workshop in Johannesburg. It is a presentation I have done several time before in a 1-1 context, but today I have a group of about 16 people to work with as I go through some advice and tops of how to get published in SA. The highlight of this course is the evening session where 4 prominent publishers will be joining us to chat, share info and meet our wanna be writers. Awesome!
