Tuesday night saw the launch of David Chislett’s debut collection of short stories, “A Body Remembered.” A good crowd packed into Tokyo Star bar and nightclub in Greenside to enjoy an event with a difference.
Aside from the conventional speeches from publisher and author, the launch featured a cameo live show from acoustic artist Rambling Bones. The singer entertained the crowd of media, VIP’s, close friends and family with four songs before handing the floor to the author.
Chislett delivered a short emotional speech and also read a passage from the book to give the audience a small sample of what to expect. Selling a book to literally every second person at the event, the reading obviously went down well!
“I am trilled with the launch,” said David afterwards, “For so many people to turn up is very flattering and I am glad so many of those took books home as well. Its been a long wait, but this event really made it all worthwhile!”
Now that the launch is over, the book is being distributed by Blue Weaver and will be in all good stores around South Africa from mid September onwards.
