Live Poetry and Music Evening
So, tomorrow night, Thursday 7 February I will be playing another live show at Johannesburg’s Amuse Cafe on 5th Street, Linden.
Sure, it’s a gig, but I’ve got together with some mates to make it fun. The line-up features a stone sculptor, an author and journalist as well as a poet…and we’ll all be playing acoustic unplugged tunes on guitar! Jon-Pat Myers, Hagen Engler and of course myself, are getting together at Amuse to present an unusual gathering of music and talk for your ears.
If you’ve been to previous shows at Amuse, you may well have seen Jon-Pat in action. He returned to South Africa two years ago after more than a decade globetrotting on the international stone-sculpture circuit. Jon-Pat will be playing a 30-minute acoustic set of his own material… a far cry from his early days in punk band Toxik Sox!
Hagen Engler is probably better known to the Jozi scene since he moved up here from Cape Town about 5 or 6 years ago. Hagen is the erstwhile editor of FHM and author of Comrade Baby (a collection of his columns and poems). Tomorrow night he will be laying down his combination of slam poetry and acoustic tunes on guitar.
And then of course there is me…. As you know, poetry collection came out last year and I will be playing my longest set ever: ten poems turned into songs!
All three of us have things to sell you too: Books, poetry books, CD’s, demos, sculpture, sketches and more. So yeah, it’s R25.00 to get in, but bring some extra cash so you can invest in an art artifact on the night. Seeing as we’ll all be there, I am sure we can personalise it for you too!
So come on down to Amuse cafe on tomorrow night, 7 February to experience a somewhat unusual musical nightout.
