Set to take place in Alex on Sunday 5 December, the Riverside Café and workshop is an all day event featuring a music business workshop by David Chislett as well as a string of music performances.

The Riverside Music & Workshop Café is a co-production between Hillside Digital and David Chislett in partnership with a Alex FM Radio Show called The Mix-tape (Every Saturday 12h00 – 15h00 – 89.1).

The day will kick off at 12 noon when David Chislett presents a workshop on the business of the music industry from his book 1,2,1,2 A Step By step Guide To The SA Music Industry.  The from 3pm the entertainers take over, presenting a series of DJ and live acts that will delight and entertain the public. Artists includes Alex outfits, The Homebase Crew and Hi hats as well as hip hop crews from Soweto and the East Rand.

There will also be a visual element to the day, with screenings of the Hillside Digital show reel, hip hop documentaries and the latest music videos. Hillside Digital will also film the entire event as part of the ongoing documentation of community life in Alexandra.
